Who we are

Two Moms & A Bookshop is an independent used bookstore based in Agoura Hills, California, selling hand-picked books online at twomomsandabookshop.com and at local pop-up events. By placing an order on this site you agree to these terms.

Orders & inventory

Every book we list is a single, hand-picked physical copy. When you add a book to your cart we hold it for 15 minutes so another shopper can't grab it while you check out. If you don't complete checkout in that window, the hold releases and the book is back up for everyone.

Your order is accepted when your payment is processed and you receive an order confirmation email. In the rare case a book was listed with an incorrect price or was unavailable when you ordered (for example, it sold at an in-person event moments earlier), we'll contact you and refund that item in full.

Condition of books

Unless a listing says “new,” our books are pre-loved. Each listing notes the copy's condition, and we grade honestly — normal shelf wear on a used book is part of its charm, not a defect. If a book's condition doesn't match what the listing said, that's covered by our return policy below.

Pricing & payment

All prices are in US dollars. Payments are processed by Square. We charge your card at checkout for the items in your cart plus shipping and any applicable sales tax (collected for California orders as required by law). If a payment is declined, your order doesn't go through and no books are held.

Discount codes

Some promotions come as discount codes. One code can be used per order, codes may have conditions (dates, minimum order, first-time or returning customers), and we may end or change a promotion at any time. A code that's expired or doesn't meet its conditions simply won't apply at checkout.

Shipping

We ship across the United States, usually by USPS Media Mail, within a few business days of your order. The exact shipping cost for your order is always shown at checkout before you pay; current rates and policies are also on our FAQ page. Once your order ships you'll get a tracking number by email.

Local pickup

Free local pickup in Agoura Hills, California is available at checkout. After you order, we'll email you to arrange a pickup time that works for both of us. We ask for your address even on pickup orders so we can confirm pickup is practical for you — and as a backup in case we need to mail your order instead.

Returns

If your book arrives damaged or you receive the wrong title, contact us within 14 days of delivery and we'll make it right — including covering the return postage when a return is needed. There's no restocking fee. Because we deal in pre-loved, one-of-a-kind books, returns for change of mind are handled case-by-case and exchanges aren't possible (there's only one copy of each book) — please contact us and we'll do our best.

Your account

Creating an account is optional — you can always check out as a guest. If you create one, you're responsible for keeping your password safe. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings, or by contacting us.

Disclaimers & limitation of liability

We run this site with care, but it's provided “as is” — we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer-protection law doesn't allow us to limit.

Changes & governing law

We may update these terms as the shop evolves; the date at the top reflects the latest change, and orders are governed by the terms in effect when you place them. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
