By hand. You tell us who it's for and what they love, and Gillian & Steph pick from the books we actually have in stock — every calendar is different, and no two readers get the same one.
They're pre-loved. We grade every book by condition before it goes on the shelf, and we only put books in excellent or very good condition into an advent calendar — nothing you'd be embarrassed to give.
We wrap each book individually and number them, so there's something to open every day. Choose unwrapped and the same books arrive as a neat stack — some people prefer to wrap them themselves.
No. The 25-book calendar is a book a day right through to Christmas, and the 8-book one is a book a night for Hanukkah. Plenty of people prefer 12 (one every other day) or 6 (one a week through Advent). The price scales with the number of books.
Yes — the 8-book calendar is one book for each night. When you choose gift wrap we ask what kind of paper you'd like, so you can pick Hanukkah wrap rather than anything Christmassy. You can also ask for Hanukkah paper on any of the other sizes.
Every calendar is packed by hand after you order, so nothing ships the same day — that's why it's sold as a preorder. We ship all calendars by November 22nd, which leaves time to arrive before the first night of Hanukkah and the start of Advent. If you need yours sooner, give us your own date in the form and we'll work to that instead, and we'll email you if we can't make it.
All sales are final, with one exception: if a book arrives damaged or you receive the wrong title, contact us within 14 days of delivery and we'll make it right — we cover the return postage and there's no restocking fee. Because every book is a single pre-loved copy and each calendar is picked by hand for one reader, we can't take returns for change of mind.
Tell us what they've read in the form and we'll steer around it — you can even attach a photo of their bookshelf. That's the single most useful thing you can give us.
